Abstract

The present paper proposes a characterization of the Romanian volunteer according to socio-demographic and economic characteristics. Volunteering is unpaid work. Although it is an activity for which volunteers do not receive material benefits in return, they have other benefits. However, not every person is eager to spend time on such an activity. In order to characterize the Romanian volunteer, a survey was realized among them, recording variables, both socio-demographic and economic. As method, was used factorial analysis of variables using SPSS. According multiple correspondence analysis, it was concluded that the male volunteer differs from the female one, having different characteristics regarding studies, financial position, marital status, type of family, time since he activates as a volunteer and age.
